The Calpeda CAM 90/ A self-priming pump is a liquid ring electric pump with star impeller with anti-blocking shim ring; first of all, self-priming means the air suction capacity in the suction pipe at start-up, with the pump installed above the water level. More precisely, liquid ring pumps are particular pumps used for the movement of gases (processed directly inside the pump) or liquids (through modification of the pressure of the air cushion above the liquids to be moved when these are contained in tanks closed and pressurized).
They are recommended for pumping clean water or liquids free from particles or chemically aggressive materials for the pump itself; they constitute the ideal solution in cases where a compact self-priming pump is required or the flow of liquids is poor, irregular or there is the presence of air or gas; furthermore, they are ideal for water supply with suction from wells and/or for increasing the pressure available from a distribution network (observe local regulations).
The Calpeda CAM 90A pump has a cast iron pump body and fitting, brass impeller, chrome steel shaft and carbon-ceramic - NBR mechanical seal. There are many advantages connected to the use of this pump: speed, in fact the hydraulic configuration allows rapid self-priming; flexibility, because cast iron allows, for the part in contact with liquids, the pump to be used with certain liquids, different from those foreseen for the bronze version; finally, simplified maintenance , as the anti-wear ring screwed to the pump body facilitates replacement in case of wear and consequently maintenance of the pump.
It also presents some technical characteristics worthy of mention: single-phase power supply 230 V ± 10%, with thermoprotector and capacitor inserted in the terminal box; class F insulation and IP 54 protection; two-pole induction motor, 50 Hz, with IE2 efficiency class , therefore we are talking about high standards of quality and performance. Some precautions are then fundamental in order to guarantee correct use: liquid temperature from -10 °C to +90 °C, ambient temperature up to 40 °C; manometric suction height up to 9 m; maximum final pressure allowed in the pump body 6 bar.
This self-priming monobloc electric pump must be installed with the rotor axis horizontal and support feet at the bottom. It is advisable to install the pump as close as possible to the suction source, providing adequate space for ventilation of the motor, to control the rotation of the shaft. In any case, the installation must be carried out by expert technical personnel and before starting it is advisable to consult the instruction manual which contains the necessary information regarding the installation methods and other further specifications relating to the operating characteristics and programming.
