The dirt separator is a device used in heating systems with condensing boilers and performs the important function of protecting the boiler. It is installed on the return of the heating circuit before the water re-enters the boiler and retains the impurities present in the circuit which would otherwise damage the exchanger and the other components of the boiler. In addition to prolonging the life of the boiler, it considerably increases the efficiency of the heating system, improves the efficiency of the whole system, helps keep the valves and radiator holders clean (the use of the dirt separator in association with the valves is recommended thermostatic). The use of the dirt separator therefore makes it possible to obtain considerable savings also on gas consumption because the boiler must always heat clean water. It is recommended to install the dirt separator already in the system activation phase or in any case at the same time as the replacement of an old boiler with a new condensing one.
The CALEFFI XS® 5459 Series dirt separator (model 545900) owes its name to its particular characteristics: it is the smallest device of its kind on the market ( eXtra Small ) so it can also be used where there is little space for installation; thanks to its white and chromed aesthetics it is highly adaptable for installation in domestic environments ( eXtra eStetico ); it is extra Safe because its internal mesh retains all the impurities present in the heating circuit, preserving its functionality over time; it is very powerful thanks to its internal magnet which separates and retains the ferrous particles from the water flow, keeping pumps and exchangers clean ( eXtra Strong ); it is also eXtra verSatile , because it can be installed under any boiler.
The CALEFFI XS® dirt separator filter is designed for installation under wall-mounted boilers on horizontal pipes.
With CALEFFI XS® the impurities present in the heating system water are conveyed first to the decantation chamber thanks to the particular profile of its baffle; then, through the neodymium magnet positioned frontally with respect to the water flow and not in direct contact with the fluid, the ferrous particles are attracted; finally, the 800 micron mesh steel filter retains the smallest impurities. The transparent windows of the decantation chamber allow you to check when it is necessary to clean the appliance: just close the ball valve of the dirt separator, unscrew the filter and wash the components under running water, really simple operations that do not require of a technician.
Built with top quality materials , the Caleffi XS® magnetic dirt separator filter is equipped with a tang with a mobile cap to facilitate assembly. The connections are ¾” M x ¾” F, the body, the fittings and the ball valve in chromed brass, the gaskets in EPDM, the filter in AISI 304 stainless steel with 800 μm mesh. It resists an operating temperature up to 90°C and the maximum operating pressure is 3 bar.
The installation operations are simple and fast.
The Caleffi XS® dirt separator filter can also be used as an access point to the system to carry out circuit cleaning and protection operations using a special kit (code F0001037, optional). Thanks to this kit, these operations will be simple and fast and can be performed even without the aid of a technician.
