IVAR DIRTSTOP MAGNETIC DIRT SEPARATOR XL PF 1"F x 1"F SUB-BOILER FOR CONDENSING BOILER OR HEAT PUMP
Adjustable magnetic dirt separator with triple filtering action. Complete with shut-off ball valves, manual air vent valve, drain cock for cleaning, cap and key for assembly/disassembly.
The dirt separator is a device that is used in heating systems with a condensing boiler or heat pump and performs the important function of protecting the whole system. It is installed on the return of the heating circuit before the water re-enters the system and retains the impurities present in the circuit which would otherwise damage the exchanger and the other components of the boiler or heat pump. In addition to prolonging the life of the boiler or heat pump, it considerably increases the efficiency of the heating system, improving the efficiency of the whole system and helping to keep the valves and radiator holders clean (the use of the dirt separator is recommended in association with thermostatic valves). The use of the dirt separator therefore makes it possible to obtain considerable savings also on gas consumption because the boiler or heat pump must always heat clean water. It is recommended to install the dirt separator already in the system activation phase or in any case at the same time as the replacement of an old boiler with a new condensing one.
Functionality and description
Swivel Tee for mounting to pipe in different orientations, can be loosened and tightened using the special wrench provided. Ivar Dirtstop XL PF must necessarily be mounted with the drain cock facing downwards. Three different actions in sequence allow for a triple filtering action. A first separation of the debris takes place by means of a vortical motion, which is produced by a special patented insert; to follow, the metal particles are retained in the water thanks to the action of two powerful neodymium magnets of 12,000 gauss each, and finally, a mechanical filtration due to an "S" shaped 800 µm stainless steel mesh allows to increase the available surface to the maximum and make the filter action excellent. The patented insert is developed to create a swirling motion and drive the system fluid flow to maximize retardation and cyclonic separation of non-ferrous debris. The neodymium magnet develops a magnetic field which maximizes the capture of ferrous impurities.
The mesh filter retains all other impurities by gravitational action on them. The Ivar Dirtstop XL PF dirt separator is supplied with a pre-assembled 500 μm G-mesh filter. This filter is perfect for the first month of operation in order to guarantee the flushing of the system, after which it can be replaced with the 800 μm mesh filter (included). Impurities precipitate into the large 450ml settling chamber at the base of the dirt separator which reduces the purging frequency. Thanks to the removable magnet and the integrated drain cock, maintenance and the evacuation of impurities also take place with the system running without the need to disassemble the dirt separator, therefore periodic cleaning of the dirt separator is quick and easy and it is not necessary to empty the system beforehand . Fully inspectable, removable and washable internal components by removing the top cap, to be performed using the special key supplied.
Installation allowed on horizontal, vertical or 45° inclined lines thanks to the rotatable brass or technopolymer tee. To change the orientation of the connections it is necessary to completely unscrew the fixing ring nut, disconnect the dirt separator body (consisting of the two caps A and B) and reposition the connections with the desired inclination, then tighten the fixing ring nut again. The connections can be used both for input and output from the device, guaranteeing ample connection freedom.
In fact, its high containment capacity is suitable for systems with heat pumps.
Dirtstop XL has an optional insulating shell (to be purchased separately) which is essential for combined heating and cooling systems.
